Celebrate the Weekend with Rainbow Bagels

The rainbow flag is a symbol of LGBTQ+ Pride and has been since the 1970s. But we should be proud of the NHS as well!

Earlier this month, Paul Hollywood presented his rainbow bagels on "Great British Bake Off" and caused Twitter consternation when he suggested that the rainbow colours represented the NHS. Prue Leith got it right when she responded that "it does now". The rainbow flag has been a symbol of LGBT Pride since the late 1970s when it was designed by the artist Gilbert Baker a gay man and a drag queen. He regarded the rainbow as a natural flag from the sky and assigned a meaning to each of the eight stripes - pink for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony and violet for spirit. The NHS rainbows started as an initiative at the Evelina Children's Hospital to promote a message of inclusivity, recognising that the LGBT+ community still faces significant barriers to leading happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. And as we all know, the rainbow has now become a symbol of solidarity with NHS workers during covid-19. We at The Modern Family Law Company are proud of the LGBT rainbow flag which is why it is incorporated in our logo. We are proud also of the NHS for promoting inclusivity and for the awesome work it has done and continues to do during the pandemic. I think we can share the flag, can't we?

Treat yourselves this weekend with a rainbow bagel. Here's the Recipe
